The Highland Foundation

Mission Statement
To unite Gastonia’s communities through fellowship, education and celebration of diversity, leadership, health and education; to participate and recognize accomplishments of citizenship, volunteerism and leadership.

Founded in 1982, each year the Highland Festival includes a weeklong celebration at the Erwin Recreational Center, 913 N Pryor St., Gastonia, NC.  Events include youth and adult basketball tournaments, men’s baseball, live entertainment, food and children’s activities.  Educational displays surrounding health and wellness are equally essential to this important event.

Goodwill and community remain two critical success factors of the Festival.  In 2010, a stronger emphasis on health and wellness are key goals of this important community event.  We rely on sponsorships in order to achieve these goals.

This year, The Highland Foundation will work to build support for back-to-school donations for children’s school supplies, contributions to local food drives, support for youth enrichment & mentorship programs at The Erwin Center, including sports uniforms.
